Livable Wages & Financial Stability

The cost of living is skyrocketing. Wages are stuck. Individuals are working two, sometimes three jobs just to make ends meet.

If elected, I would fight to raise the federal minimum wage to keep up with the pace of rising costs that are pushing millions of hardworking individuals and families to the brink. There is no excuse for the richest country in the world to not be able to pay its people adequately. We deserve good-paying jobs that allow us to build a nest egg, afford to buy a home or go to college, or start a family if we choose to.

In Congress, I would also work to advance the Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act in order to strengthen and expand labor protections, employee rights, and specifically, the ability for employees to exercise their right to organize and unionize.

In order to tackle the growing affordability crisis and deepening economic inequality that is burdening working-class, poor and middle-class families, I would also strongly support making sure the wealthiest top percent and corporations pay their fair share in taxes so that we can build an economy that works for us all, not just for some. Progressive taxation and closing corporate loopholes are essential to addressing the rising cost-of-living crisis and would enable us to better fund health care access for all, universal childcare, raise the federal minimum wage, ensure tuition-free public colleges and well-resourced public schools in all neighborhoods.
