IL-07 Candidate Anabel Mendoza Responds to Election Results
CHICAGO — Following the results of the election in Illinois’ 7th Congressional District, lifelong Chicagoan, immigrant rights organizer, and congressional candidate Anabel Mendoza, released the following statement:
“Tonight’s outcome was not the one we hoped for, but what we built together over these past months is something I will always be proud of. I am deeply grateful to every person who poured their time, energy, and heart into this campaign. Our staff, volunteers, and supporters organized across this district because they believed our communities deserve leaders who show up for them.
“This campaign began seven months ago in my living room without a political machine or billionaire donors behind us. It was built by neighbors and working people who refused to look away from injustice and believed our government should answer to the people it serves.
“I congratulate La Shawn Ford on his victory and wish him the strength and wisdom needed to serve this community well. This campaign was never just about one election. I will continue fighting alongside this community for a future where dignity, opportunity, and justice belong to everyone.”
